GeoCorrector
The CoastWatch ArcView GIS GeoCorrector Extension is a tool programmed in Avenue that allows "hand-navigation" of CoastWatch satellite data within the ArcView GIS environment. NOAA polar satellite data often contain slight X-Y shifts primarily due to satellite clock errors. These shifts can be corrected by using this extension. In addition, this extension allows a user to:
  • set 'uncorrected' and 'corrected' directories
  • automatically load the contents of the 'uncorrected' directory
  • interactively position medium resolution vector shorelines over land-water features
  • apply a land/cloud mask when generating a corrected GRID
  • export 'corrected' GRIDs to binary raster
  • create a log of X-Y shifts for applying to source CWF files
The extension requires binary raster files as an input. Binary raster data may be obtained from CoastWatch Regional Node websites or by using the CWF Library and Utilities package. Note that the use of GRIDs in ArcView requires the Spatial Analyst extension. The following distribution contains two ArcView extensions (.avx) and a text file describing installation procedures:
