Activities

  • Management of Central Pacific Node
  • Research in biological oceanography in the Central and Western Pacific with focus on population dynamics of high trophic animals.
  • Current research addresses:
    • Developing indicators from satellite remotely sensed oceanographic data to monitor the state of the Pacific Ocean
    • Describing migration and "oceanic hot spots" used by large pelagic animals including turtles, tunas, opah, and whale sharks by sending out fleets of pelagic animals with electronic tags.
