Overview

NOAA produces CoastWatch SeaWIFS ocean color products in near-real time from data collected by two ground stations (East US and West US). Data is purchased from GeoEye under a NOAA Contract and therefore data is restricted to US civil marine operational applications. Questions regarding access should be directed to Kent Hughes, CoastWatch Program Manager. NOAA obtains Level-1A data from GeoEye and processes the data to Level-2 ocean products using NASA SeaDAS and NOAA algorithms. These products are then mapped to the CoastWatch West Coast, Gulf of Mexico, Northeast, Caribbean, and Southeast geographic regions.

CoastWatch SeaWIFS ocean oolor browse products (PNG) are limited to chlorophyll-a concentration and are publicly accessible. Authorized users may also obtain Level-2 and Level-3 products in CoastWatch-HDF and GeoTIFF formats.
