Jonathan Sherman, Ph.D

Jonathan Sherman, PhD, is a research scientist on the CoastWatch Applications team as a GST contractor. Dr. Sherman received his PhD in Oceanography from Rutgers, and his BS in Marine Biotechnology from the Ruppin Academic Center. Prior to joining CoastWatch, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the City College of New York, Tzortziou Bio-Optics Laboratory, where he used ocean color remote sensing to study phytoplankton and carbon cycling in estuarine and coastal ecosystems for Long Island Sound to the Arctic. Dr. Sherman brings his expertise, as well as research interests in phytoplankton photophysiology, Chlorophyll a, coastal and estuarine biogeochemistry, and climate change to CoastWatch.
